Welwyn Hatfield Labour

Turning the tide

In the 2022 Local Elections, Welwyn Hatfield Labour made a strategic move by enlisting the exceptional organisational skills of Chris Myers. Chris took charge of the campaign and delivered remarkable results that transformed the political landscape of Welwyn Hatfield.

Under Chris's visionary leadership, Welwyn Hatfield Labour achieved an impressive feat, securing not only 2 brand new seats but also successfully defending 4 others. This remarkable success was a testament to Chris's strategic acumen and his ability to connect with the electorate, resonating with their concerns and aspirations.

Chris's skills and dedication didn't stop there. Just a month after the Local Elections, he demonstrated his electoral prowess once again by defending another crucial seat in the Hatfield Central By-Election. This victory reinforced the party's standing in the community and showcased Chris's unwavering commitment to the cause.

The cumulative impact of Chris Myers' efforts provided Welwyn Hatfield Labour with a solid foundation to make a historic move in 2023. Building on the momentum generated by these victories, the party entered into a successful joint administration with the Liberal Democrats, leading to the ultimate triumph of taking control of the Council.

Turning the Deputy Prime Minister's Constituency Red.

Hertsmere, once considered an unshakable Tory stronghold with a history spanning 24 years, underwent a remarkable transformation when, in a dynamic campaign co-run by Chris Myers, Hertsmere Borough Council turned a vibrant shade of red in a historic election campaign.

This extraordinary accomplishment wasn't a mere stroke of luck but the culmination of a series of hard-fought election campaigns orchestrated by Hertsmere Labour and masterfully run or co-run by Chris. In 2019, a year when Labour faced significant challenges in the polls, Chris's campaign in Potters Bar Furzefield Ward defied the odds by securing the safest Tory council seats, historically untouched by Labour. This watershed moment shattered preconceived notions and paved the way for a new political landscape in Hertsmere.

The momentum created in 2019 was no fluke; it was a testament to Chris's strategic brilliance and unwavering dedication. In 2023, with Chris and the team at the helm Hertsmere Labour once again triumphed, clinching even more previously impregnable Tory council seats. This repeated success solidified Chris's reputation as a political visionary and demonstrated that change was not just a one-time occurrence but a lasting transformation under his stewardship.

Trainee Organiser Progamme

In the transformative year of 2022, The Labour Party embarked on an audacious journey by launching an ambitious Trainee Organiser programme, aimed at nurturing the next generation of political leaders and organizers. The program sought to identify and cultivate talent from diverse backgrounds, individuals who would eventually become the driving force behind the party's initiatives.

From a vast pool of aspirants, these exceptional trainee organisers emerged as shining stars, having demonstrated exceptional skills, passion, and dedication. Their journey was not an easy one, as they navigated a rigorous selection process that pitted them against hundreds of other highly competitive interviewees. Through their resilience, intellect, and unwavering commitment to Labour's values and mission, they emerged victorious.

But their journey didn't end with their selection. These remarkable individuals embarked on a comprehensive training program meticulously designed and delivered by The Labour Party. This training not only honed their political acumen but also instilled in them the values and principles that lie at the core of Labour's ideology. It equipped them with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the complex and ever-evolving landscape of political organising.

As the newest generation of organisers, these successful applicants now stand as a testament to The Labour Party's commitment to fostering talent, diversity, and inclusivity. They are poised to carry forward the party's legacy, armed with the experience and training needed to drive meaningful change in the political arena. Their journey from being selected among hundreds to completing their training signifies the party's dedication to cultivating the leaders of tomorrow.

Our MD, Chris Myers, was one of these trainees. Having graduated in August 2023, he and the team now bring this expertise to CLP and Labour Groups’ who would not usually have access to it.
